Alessia is a London-based independent pop artist, who combines disco-funk nostalgia with a contemporary cool-pop edge. Her latest single MODERN DISCO GIRL blew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Creating a buzz in the Music scene with 200,000 Listeners on her EP
Swiss-born Alessia started playing the piano at just 5 years old and went on to
study both classical and jazz piano. In 2019 Alessia left her village in Switzerland
for the bright lights of London. She graduated from BIMM Music College in 2022.
Alessia collaborates with notable people like Victor Radström (NEIKED), Charlie
Thomas (Calum Scott), Chris Arnott (Laura White), Zarah Christensen (Itzy),
Märta Grauers (Alcazar) & many more
The theme of the release is about coming out positive from dark times fighting through my mental health issues. Each piece describes the strength I gained over time with different powers that exist in this world. The lead track ‘Modern Disco Girl’ is about me and how my mom influenced me to be who I am today.
I used to be embarrassed about my mom being much older than mothers of those of my age. In the process of overcoming my mental health issues, I became able to appreciate my mom for who she is. She told me how things were in the 70’s and 80’s and we listened to disco music together reminiscing her old times. I even had fun wearing her clothes from the 80’s. This whole experience influenced me to grow fond of disco music and this now makes me ‘Modern Disco Girl.
I wrote the song in a third person narrative but it is actually about
myself. The title track has been written together with Reece Baker (RAYOWA). One of Alessias long lasting Songwriting Partner Sevenseers, based in Greece, has been collaborating on her song Spicy. Alessia & Sevenseers have never met in person. Fred Abbott and Will Hicks have been adding their magic on Midnight Dynamite and Electricity. Electricity was written during the journey from London back to Hereford where Wills Studio is. Nahuel Herrera (Argentinian / Italian live guitarist who grew up in Italy)recorded his most spicy Guitar solo on Spicy but also on the others.
After performing this song for the first time live, I received positive feedback from people much older than me. Then I realized, this song isn’t just for people of my age but also those who are much older than I and enjoying their time with their children talking about their life when they were young. That is what I put into the song, ‘Modern Disco Girl’.
Artist Bio:
Alessia & her live band The Crazycats are a London-based sugary-sweet pop outfit, dripping with funk nostalgia. Comprised of band-members from all across Europe, Alessia and the Crazycats draw from a range of inspiration to help create her sound. Alessia herself heralds from Switzerland has keen interest in funk and disco citing influences such as Chic, Sigrid, The Weekend and Calvin Harris. “Bringing a sparkle to everything she does, Alessia has a bright energy that lights up any room she enters or stage she takes to” and she has been described by industry professional as a “rare gem”. Alessia’s lyrics focus consistently on the positive aspects of life.
She is classically trained on the piano for over 10 years when Alessia decided to study Jazz Piano in switzerland. In 2022 Alessia has graduated at BIMM London. Meanwhile she has
